Pantone® 877 Uncoated: Pantone 877 auf uncoated Papier
Metallic: Schimmer, kein Spiegel. Druckereien schreiben es PMS 877 U; Markenrichtlinien schreiben es meist Pantone® 877 Uncoated. Gleiche Farbe, gleiche Platte: Der Buchstabe ist das Papier, auf dem er landet. Auf coated Papier in derselben Farbe ist PMS 877 C, und es sieht nicht gleich aus.

Gestrichen oder ungestrichen: ehrlich verglichen
The same ink is not the same colour on the two stocks. On coated sheets the ink sits on a sealed surface: denser, brighter, sharper edges. On uncoated the fibres absorb it: softer, duller, slightly lighter, and warm colours lose the most punch. Some colours change character outright: brights go chalky, deep navies go grey-blue.

Verhalten in der Produktion
- Metallic silver: aluminium flake. The same rules as 871: a sheen on coated, and a noticeably flatter grey on uncoated.
- Neben echter Silberfolie wirkt sie grau. Erscheinen beide auf demselben Stück, verliert die Farbe.
Auf dunklem Papier
Offset and letterpress inks are translucent. On a dark or coloured stock a light ink will not cover: it sinks into the sheet and reads tone-on-tone. For light colour on dark paper the answer is foil stamping or an opaque screen pass, never a straight PMS hit.

Foil is actual metal transferred under heat and pressure: reflective, sharp, and unmistakably different in the hand. If the brand asset is 'gold', foil gives a reflective highlight while metallic ink gives a satin sheen.

- What does Pantone 877 look like on uncoated paper?
- Weicher, matter und etwas heller als der gestrichene Farbchip. Ungestrichene Fasern nehmen die Farbe auf, statt sie auf einer versiegelten Oberfläche stehen zu lassen, daher sinkt die Sättigung durchweg. Das ungestrichene Muster hier ist aus der gestrichenen Annäherung abgeleitet: Bestellen Sie das Musterset oder lassen Sie uns die Farben nach Ihrer Bestellung abstimmen.
- Can you print Pantone 877 on dark or coloured stock?
- Not as a standard ink hit. Pantone 877 is translucent, so on dark stock the paper colour comes through and the result is tone-on-tone. For this colour on dark paper we foil stamp or run an opaque screen instead.
- Can Pantone 877 be matched in CMYK?
