About Flat Hot Foil
Flat hot foil stamping produces a smooth, flush metallic surface — the foil sits level with the paper rather than raised above it. The result is clean and refined: sharp metallic lines with a mirror-like reflectivity that catches light as the card moves.
This technique works best on smooth, coated papers like silk laminate, where the foil bonds evenly across the surface.
The technique is identical regardless of foil color — a custom metal die is heated and pressed into the foil, transferring your design permanently onto the card. Each foil is its own pass on the press, which is what gives foil stamped business cards their distinctive quality.
