How the Metal + Plastic Hybrid Works
NFC chips communicate via radio frequency — and metal blocks radio signals. A solid metal card can't scan. Our solution: a stainless steel front plate bonded to a thin NFC-enabled plastic back. The front gives you the full metal experience — weight, temperature, sound, engraving. The back houses the chip and scans reliably from 1–3cm.
The two layers are permanently bonded. The card feels like a single piece — there's no visible seam on the edges.

Metal Options
Black: Black PVD coating over stainless steel. Deep matte black. Engraving reveals silver steel underneath — high contrast.
Silver: Raw brushed stainless steel. Clean, industrial, modern. Engraving creates subtle texture change.
Gold-tone (PVD): Gold PVD coating. Warm, luxurious. Engraving reveals silver steel — gold and silver two-tone effect.
Rose Gold-tone (PVD): Rose gold PVD coating. Softer, warmer than gold. Popular for beauty, fashion, and lifestyle brands.
Copper-tone (PVD): Copper PVD coating. Warm bronze tone. Industrial and refined.
White: White PVD coating. Clean, minimal. Engraving reveals silver steel.
Iridescent: Color-shifting rainbow PVD coating. Different colors at different angles. Bold and distinctive.
Aluminum: Raw aluminum — lighter than stainless steel, silver-toned, slightly warmer color than stainless.

- Scan side: back (plastic side) only — metal front blocks NFC signal
- Works without an app on iPhone XS/XR and newer, and on most Android phones with NFC switched on.

- Passive chip, no battery, rated by the chipmaker for at least 10 years of data retention.

File Requirements
- Front (metal): supply as vector artwork (AI, EPS, or PDF). Indicate engraving areas, cut-through areas, and/or color print areas on separate layers.
- Back (plastic): supply as CMYK artwork (PDF, AI, PSD, EPS, 300dpi, with bleed). Full-color printing — design as you would a standard printed card.
