Studio concept
A ghost layer under copper
A studio concept: an olive-oil label on oat felt stock, with terracotta medallions, copper foil and a pearlescent varnish laid as a full ghost layer.

Two rules
- 01Varnish as a field, not a spot. Lay it as a broad ghost layer across the field, so it shifts the whole label rather than one shape.
- 02Felt under metal. Keep the foil to weighty medallion shapes and let the type print, not stamp.

Same paper, foil and finish, locked in — nothing of this piece artwork comes with it.
Questions
- Can you print pearlescent varnish and foil on the same label?
- Yes — the order matters: varnish first as a broad field, foil last, so the metal sits on top and stays crisp. On a felt stock keep foil to solid shapes rather than hairlines, because the texture breaks fine foil. Start a quote with this spec.
