Case study · Folders · The Ritz-Carlton, Waikiki Beach

A holder that carries the message and the envelope

The companion holder for the red envelope: gold foil serpent and crest outside, a letterpressed Wooden Snake message inside, a blind-embossed lattice on the back.

Folders for The Ritz-Carlton, Waikiki Beach with gold foil stamping, 130lb vermilion uncoated cover, gold letterpress, blind emboss and 4.5×7.5 in folded, 0.5 in side panels.

    The idea

The envelope needed a presentation piece. The hotel wrote a short message about the year and wanted it inside, in gold, where the guest finds it on opening.

    Two rules

    1. 01Message in letterpress, not foil. Metallic gold letterpress for the message, foil reserved for the crest and serpent. Two golds, two processes, one read.
    2. 02Side panels. Half-inch side panels scored and folded so the holder becomes a shallow pocket.

    Start from these materials

Same paper, foil and finish, locked in — nothing of The Ritz-Carlton, Waikiki Beach's artwork comes with it.
