Traslucido: non copre carte scure. Gli stampatori lo scrivono PMS Yellow U; di solito le linee guida del brand lo scrivono Pantone® Yellow Uncoated. Stesso inchiostro, stessa lastra: a fare la lettera è la carta su cui si posa. Su coated carta dello stesso colore è PMS Yellow C, e non ha lo stesso aspetto.

Patinata o naturale, con onestà
The same ink is not the same colour on the two stocks. On coated sheets the ink sits on a sealed surface: denser, brighter, sharper edges. On uncoated the fibres absorb it: softer, duller, slightly lighter, and warm colours lose the most punch. Some colours change character outright: brights go chalky, deep navies go grey-blue.

- Pantone Yellow is the most translucent ink we run. Over any tinted stock it takes the colour of the sheet: a yellow on kraft is a mustard, whatever the chip says.
Su carta scura
Offset and letterpress inks are translucent. On a dark or coloured stock a light ink will not cover: it sinks into the sheet and reads tone-on-tone. For light colour on dark paper the answer is foil stamping or an opaque screen pass, never a straight PMS hit.

Una resa CMYK di un colore spot è un'approssimazione, non il colore. - What does Pantone Yellow look like on uncoated paper?
- Più morbido, più opaco e un po' più chiaro del campione patinato. Le fibre non patinate assorbono l'inchiostro invece di lasciarlo su una superficie sigillata, quindi la saturazione cala in generale. - Not as a standard ink hit. Pantone Yellow is translucent, so on dark stock the paper colour comes through and the result is tone-on-tone. For this colour on dark paper we foil stamp or run an opaque screen instead.
- Can Pantone Yellow be matched in CMYK?
