Edge Finishing Details
- Edge Painting: Matte ink applied to all four edges of the card. Available in 6 curated colors plus PMS Color Match. Works on all papers. Best on 32pt+ stock where the edge surface is visible and dramatic.
- Edge Foil: Metallic foil stamped onto the card edges. Available in Gold, Silver, Rose Gold, Copper, Black, and Holographic. Creates a reflective stripe that catches light with every handoff.
- Edge treatments are most dramatic on thicker stock — 48pt provides nearly twice the surface area of standard cards.
Paper & Production
- Silk Laminate: Bright white with smooth matte lamination. Professional, clean, and versatile. Best for: full-color photography, detailed graphics, modern branding.
- Soft Touch: Bright white with velvety soft-touch lamination. Resists fingerprints, feels like suede. Best for: dark designs, luxury branding, textural contrast with spot UV.
- Cotton: 100% cotton fiber, warm off-white, uncoated. Soft, tactile, and absorbent. Best for: minimal designs, foil, letterpress-adjacent feel.

About Edge Finishing
Edge painting and edge foil transform the side profile of your cards into a design element. Visible when cards are stacked, fanned, or handed over — moments standard printing misses.
The thicker the card, the more dramatic the edge. Edge paint can be matched to any Pantone color in your brand. Edge foil adds metallic shimmer that catches light from every angle.
The most effective edge finishing matches the overall design intention. A letterpress card on cotton with a painted navy edge feels considered and classic. A soft touch card with gold foil accents and gold foil edges feels cohesive and premium. The edge should feel like a continuation of the design, not an afterthought.

What is the difference between edge painting and edge foil?
Edge painting applies an opaque matte colour to the card edges. Edge foil applies metallic foil that reflects light. Both need thick stock (32pt or more).
What colors are available for edge painting?
Edge painting is available in black, red, blue, gold, pink, orange and a custom PMS colour match.
How thick does a card need to be for edge finishing?
Edge finishing needs at least 32pt stock. At 48pt the edge becomes a bold, prominent design element.
Can you match the edge color to the foil on the front of the card?
Yes. If you add a foil accent to the card face, you can choose the same metallic colour for your edge foil, so the two read as one finish.
