A photograph on a business card without the gloss

Dark botanical photography fading into a deep aubergine field, cream type, and a cream reverse. Silk stock instead of a laminate so the photograph reads without a glare.

Business-cards for Nocturne Floral (proof 182849) with 32pt silk matte, 4-colour process and straight edges.

    The idea

A florist whose work is dark and dramatic wanted a card that looked like their arrangements, not like a stationery product. Photography on both sides, nothing shiny.

    Two rules

    1. 01Silk over soft-touch. 32pt silk, no laminate. The stock is matte by itself and holds the shadow detail in the leaves.
    2. 02Dark-to-dark fade. Built the aubergine from the same four-colour mix as the photograph so the transition is one continuous separation, not two.
Macro of the matte silk surface and cream type
Silk surface, macro. No specular, no glare, and the cream type stays crisp at the corner.

    Start from these materials

Same paper, foil and finish, locked in — nothing of Nocturne Floral (proof 182849)'s artwork comes with it.
