Wood Species Details
- Cherry: Warm reddish-brown, fine grain, excellent engraving contrast.
- Walnut: Dark chocolate brown, dramatic grain, strongest contrast with engraving.
- Birch: Pale blonde, subtle grain. Best for color printing (light base doesn't compete with ink).
- Bamboo: Golden tan, horizontal node lines. Fastest-growing, most sustainable option.
How NFC Works in Wood
The NFC chip is a thin, flexible antenna embedded between the wood layers during production. It's completely invisible — no bump, no visible element on the surface. The wood does not block NFC signals (unlike metal), so the card scans from either side.
The chip is sealed and protected by the wood layers. It's durable enough to withstand normal handling, though wood NFC cards should be kept dry — prolonged water exposure can damage the wood (not the chip).
Read distance is 1–3cm — the same as any NFC card. The wood thickness does not meaningfully affect scan performance.
