Question 1

What weight should a counter flyer be?

Accepted Answer

Heavy enough not to curl in a stack. Text weights work for a handout that gets read once; a cover weight is what makes someone keep it. We will tell you which one the run wants once we see the piece.

Question 2

Can flyers be scored and folded on press?

Accepted Answer

Yes — bi-fold, tri-fold and gate folds are scored in-line so the fibre does not crack. Uncoated cover always gets scored before folding, never folded cold.

Question 3

Is foil worth it on a flyer?

Accepted Answer

On a small run, yes — the die cost spreads across fewer pieces than people assume and the flyer stops reading as disposable. On a ten-thousand-piece handout, spend the money on paper instead.

Question 4

Can you print a full bleed on both sides?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Both sides are imposed with bleed and trimmed together, so registration front-to-back is held on press rather than corrected afterwards.

Question 5

What is the smallest run you will take?

Accepted Answer

Short runs are fine on digital and letterpress. Offset has a setup floor that makes very small runs poor value — we will say so rather than take the order.
