One-way degassing valve
Required for whole-bean coffee. Fresh roast gives off CO₂ for days.

- Best for
- Whole-bean coffee packed fresh off the roast.
- Structure
- Moulded one-way valve, heat-welded to the pouch face. Clear, black or white.
- Print methods
- n/a (a component, and it sits on top of the artwork)
- Finishes
- Matte · Gloss
- After use
- Compostable valves exist but must be covered by the pouch's certificate. On a mono-polyethylene bag, ask for a valve that matches the film.
Look and feel
A small round disc, about 2 cm across, with tiny vent holes, welded flat to the bag face.
Printing on it
It's welded on after printing, so its spot goes on the dieline from day one. Keep type and key artwork clear of it.
How it works
Fresh roast keeps giving off CO2 for days. The valve opens when pressure builds inside and shuts before outside air can get back in, so the bag doesn't balloon and the beans don't go stale.
After use
Compostable valves exist but must be covered by the pouch's certificate. On a mono-polyethylene bag, ask for a valve that matches the film.
