Pantone® Yellow Uncoated: Pantone Yellow sur uncoated papier
Translucide : ne couvre pas les supports foncés. Les imprimeurs l'écrivent PMS Yellow U; la charte graphique l'écrit généralement Pantone® Yellow Uncoated. Même encre, même cliché : la lettre, c'est le papier qui la reçoit. Sur coated papier de même couleur est PMS Yellow C, et le rendu n'est pas le même.

Couché ou non couché, en toute franchise
The same ink is not the same colour on the two stocks. On coated sheets the ink sits on a sealed surface: denser, brighter, sharper edges. On uncoated the fibres absorb it: softer, duller, slightly lighter, and warm colours lose the most punch. Some colours change character outright: brights go chalky, deep navies go grey-blue.

Comportement en production
- Pantone Yellow is the most translucent ink we run. Over any tinted stock it takes the colour of the sheet: a yellow on kraft is a mustard, whatever the chip says.
Sur papier foncé
Offset and letterpress inks are translucent. On a dark or coloured stock a light ink will not cover: it sinks into the sheet and reads tone-on-tone. For light colour on dark paper the answer is foil stamping or an opaque screen pass, never a straight PMS hit.

Une conversion CMJN d'un ton direct est une approximation, pas la couleur elle-même. Cela compte surtout sur les grands aplats, les marques essentielles à l'identité, et dans les teintes vives et les bleus profonds que la quadrichromie ne peut pas atteindre. Cela compte peu pour les petits textes et dans les photographies.

- What does Pantone Yellow look like on uncoated paper?
- Plus doux, plus mat et un peu plus clair que l'échantillon couché. Les fibres non couchées absorbent l'encre au lieu de la laisser en surface, et la saturation baisse partout. L'échantillon non couché présenté ici est modélisé à partir de l'approximation couchée : commandez le kit d'échantillons, ou demandez-nous de sélectionner les encres après votre commande.
- Can you print Pantone Yellow on dark or coloured stock?
- Not as a standard ink hit. Pantone Yellow is translucent, so on dark stock the paper colour comes through and the result is tone-on-tone. For this colour on dark paper we foil stamp or run an opaque screen instead.
- Can Pantone Yellow be matched in CMYK?
- Parfois. Une reproduction en quadrichromie passe généralement dans une image ou un petit texte, mais se voit le plus souvent sur un grand aplat ou un logo. S'il s'agit de la couleur de votre marque, gardez un ton direct.
