Translúcido: no cubre papel oscuro. Los impresores lo escriben PMS Black 6 U; las guías de marca suelen escribirlo Pantone® Black 6 Uncoated. Misma tinta, misma plancha: la letra es el papel sobre el que cae. En coated papel del mismo color es PMS Black 6 C, y no se ve igual.

Estucado o no estucado, con honestidad
Ver Black 6 C y Black 6 U lado a ladoThe same ink is not the same colour on the two stocks. On coated sheets the ink sits on a sealed surface: denser, brighter, sharper edges. On uncoated the fibres absorb it: softer, duller, slightly lighter, and warm colours lose the most punch. Some colours change character outright: brights go chalky, deep navies go grey-blue.

Cómo se comporta en producción
- El negro más intenso de la guía de sólidos y el que usamos por defecto cuando un trabajo es de un solo color y ese color es el negro.
- Ligeramente desplazado hacia el azul, por eso parece un "negro caro" junto a un negro de cuatricromía cálido.
- On uncoated even Black 6 lifts toward charcoal. That is the sheet drinking the ink, not a press problem: if you need a true dead black on uncoated, the answer is a double hit or a foil.
Sobre papel oscuro
Offset and letterpress inks are translucent. On a dark or coloured stock a light ink will not cover: it sinks into the sheet and reads tone-on-tone. For light colour on dark paper the answer is foil stamping or an opaque screen pass, never a straight PMS hit.

Una construcción CMYK de un color directo es una aproximación, no el color. Importa sobre todo en grandes planos sólidos, en marcas clave para la identidad y en los tonos vivos y azules profundos que la cuatricromía no alcanza. Importa menos en textos pequeños y dentro de fotografías.

- What does Pantone Black 6 look like on uncoated paper?
- Más suave, más apagado y algo más claro que la muestra estucada. Las fibras sin estucar absorben la tinta en lugar de dejarla sobre una superficie sellada, así que la saturación baja en general. La muestra sin estucar se ha modelado a partir de la aproximación estucada: pide el kit de muestras o pídenos que seleccionemos las tintas después de tu pedido.
- Can you print Pantone Black 6 on dark or coloured stock?
- Not as a standard ink hit. Pantone Black 6 is translucent, so on dark stock the paper colour comes through and the result is tone-on-tone. For this colour on dark paper we foil stamp or run an opaque screen instead.
- Can Pantone Black 6 be matched in CMYK?
- A veces. Una mezcla en cuatricromía suele ser aceptable dentro de imágenes o en texto pequeño, y suele notarse en un plano sólido grande o en una marca. Si es el color de tu marca, mantenlo como tinta directa.
