Business Card Sizes — Standard & Custom Dimensions
US, EU, and custom sizes — dimensions in inches and millimeters, plus when to go non-standard.
US standard size
The standard US business card measures 3.5 × 2 inches (89 × 51 mm). This is the size that fits perfectly into wallets, cardholders, and Rolodexes. Unless you have a specific reason to deviate, this is the size we recommend for most projects — it's what people expect, and it ensures your card gets kept rather than discarded.
All of our Quick Ship and Studio products default to US standard sizing. When you order, your artwork should be set up at 3.75 × 2.25 inches to account for 1/8" bleed on all sides.
European standard size
The European standard is 85 × 55 mm (approximately 3.35 × 2.17 inches). It's slightly narrower and taller than the US standard — just enough to notice if you compare them side by side, but both fit standard cardholders. If your business operates primarily in Europe, this is the size to choose.
We produce both US and EU standard sizes across all product lines. Simply select your preferred size during configuration.
Japanese and other regional sizes
Japan uses 91 × 55 mm, which is slightly wider than the European standard. Other regions have their own conventions — Canada follows the US standard, while South Korea and China have their own slight variations. For regional sizes outside US and EU standards, contact us for a custom quote and we'll match the exact dimensions you need.
Custom sizes and shapes
Non-standard sizes are available through our die-cut business cards. You can go smaller (mini cards), larger (oversized), square, circular, or any custom shape you can imagine. Custom shapes require a die-cut tool, which is a one-time cost included in your order.
Keep in mind: non-standard sizes may not fit in standard cardholders. This can be a feature — a square card or an oversized card stands out — but it's worth considering how your recipients will store and carry them. See our business card shapes guide for more on non-standard formats.
