Custom Die-Cut Business Cards

A custom die cut works like a precision cookie cutter: a steel rule is bent to your exact shape, mounted in a die, and pressed through the stack. Any silhouette you can draw, we can usually cut — rounded, angled, asymmetric, a shape that mirrors your logo. For genuinely intricate work — interior cutouts, lace-fine detail, shapes inside shapes — we move from steel rule to laser, which burns the path instead of pressing it.

The honest constraints: sharp interior corners are the enemy. An inside corner wants a small radius or the paper can nick and tear at exactly the spot people's thumbs find. Thin bridges of paper — anything under a couple millimeters holding two parts of the card together — will weaken over a wallet's lifetime. And the thicker the stock, the more a tight curve softens; 32pt cotton holds a bold shape beautifully but won't do razor-fine filigree the way thinner stock will. This is why we review every custom shape before it's cut — not to say no, but to move a corner half a millimeter so it survives the real world.

Why thickness matters here more than anywhere: a die-cut card lives or dies by rigidity. A custom shape on flimsy 14pt reads as a gimmick. The same shape on 32pt reads as an object. If the shape is the idea, spend on the stock that lets the shape stand up.

Ways into it at different budgets: a simple one-edge cut (an angled corner, a notch, a curve) costs far less than a full-perimeter shape and still breaks the rectangle. Full custom silhouette is the signature move. Laser-cut interior detail is the showpiece — and it pairs shockingly well with foil.
