What changes the price
These are the variables that move the number. There is no calculator — we read the file and quote it.
- How many marks are in the lockup
- How many processes it has to survive — foil only is simpler than foil plus emboss plus letterpress
- Whether the source is vector, raster, or a photograph of a printed piece
- Whether the mono version has to be redrawn rather than inverted
- Whether the type is a licensed face we can match, or has to be drawn by hand
- Whether the mark contains a gradient or photographic element that must become flat facets
The press standards that apply
Hairlines under 0.5 pt
A foil line finer than 0.5 pt either fills in or flakes off the sheet. We redraw thin strokes up to the floor rather than let them disappear.
Counters under 1.5 mm
The hole in an 'a' or an 'e' closes under pressure. Below 1.5 mm at final size it prints as a solid blob, so we open the counter or change the size.
Colours that touch
Two inks butted edge to edge show white at the join when registration moves. We pull them apart by 0.3 mm or trap them deliberately.
Gradients on foil or metal
Foil is one flat tone — it cannot fade. A gradient is redrawn as flat facets, or the foil is dropped and the fade printed in ink.
Islands in a laser cut
Any cut that fully encircles an area drops the middle out. We bridge it at 0.6 mm so the counter stays attached, or we do not cut it.
Inverted mono versions
A mark reversed out of a solid is not the same drawing — strokes gain weight and counters close. The mono version is drawn, not inverted.

Questions
Can you fix a logo for foil stamping?
Yes. A foil logo needs a minimum line weight of 0.5 pt and counters no smaller than 1.5 mm; anything finer fills in or flakes off the sheet. We redraw to those floors and hand back separated artwork with the tolerances named.
How much does a logo redraw cost?
A press-ready redraw starts at $245 for one mark on one process. Most land between $245 and $600. Every project is quoted, because the number moves with how many processes the mark has to survive.
What file format do you need for letterpress?
Vector artwork with outlined type — PDF, AI or EPS. If all you have is a PNG or a photograph of an old business card, we redraw from it; that is what this service is.
Can you vectorise my logo?
We redraw rather than auto-trace. Auto-tracing a raster leaves wobbling curves and stepped edges that show at foil dies and emboss depth. Every curve here is drawn.
Why won't my AI-generated logo print?
Generated marks carry soft edges, tapering hairlines and colours that touch — three things a die cannot hold. We rebuild the idea on hard curves at printable weights.
