    Dye Sublimation Printed Business Cards

    4 designs in our gallery

Dye sublimation business cards are printed by bonding dye directly into the surface of the substrate under heat and pressure — the ink becomes part of the material rather than sitting on top of it. This produces photographs and gradients with a depth and tonal continuity that conventional offset or digital printing cannot replicate, which is why the process tends to attract designers working with full-bleed portraiture, rich color washes, and continuous-tone artwork.

The process is best suited to coated polymer and aluminum card stock, both of which accept the dye transfer cleanly. Standard thickness runs around 0.3 mm for aluminum and 0.76 mm for rigid plastic substrates. Because the color is embedded rather than applied, the surface is inherently resistant to scuffing and fading without a laminate layer — though a matte or gloss overcoat can still be specified if tactile texture matters. Lead time typically runs seven to ten business days. The finish pairs well with laser-engraved detail or die-cutting when a second process is needed to introduce structural contrast.

We have four dye sublimation designs in the gallery below, each showing a different approach to color density and substrate choice — a useful reference point before committing to specs.
