Studio concept
White ink on cobalt cloth
A studio concept: a cased hardcover in cobalt book cloth with the title screen printed in white across the face and matched on the spine.

Two rules
- 01Ink on cloth, not foil. Screen print, which lays enough opaque white to cover cobalt while keeping the weave visible.
- 02Register across the hinge. Break the lockup at the hinge and print the spine as its own element.

Start from these materials
Same paper, foil and finish, locked in — nothing of this piece artwork comes with it.
Questions
- Can you screen print on book cloth?
- Yes, and on a dark cloth it usually beats foil — screen ink lays an opaque white that still shows the weave, while white foil bridges the texture and reads like film. Keep artwork off the hinge, which moves during casing-in. Start a quote with this spec.
