How it behaves in production
- Gmund Bier Ale — deep red-brown, the colour of ale malt. Uncoated 300gsm stock milled with spent ale malt. Render the visible spent-grain husk particles suspended in the sheet: irregular, low-contrast, scattered — never a clean flat colour and never a printed pattern.
- PULP-COLOURED THROUGH — a cut edge, a die-cut aperture and a rounded corner all come back the same colour as the face. Never render a white core at the edge.
- INK TRANSLUCENCY: litho and letterpress inks are translucent, so on this dark base any ink lighter than the sheet disappears. A light mark here is a PIGMENT FOIL (white or metallic) or an opaque screen print — never a light ink, and never called letterpress.
- INCLUSION-BEARING SHEET: hairlines under 0.5pt and type under 6pt break where they cross a particle. Keep strokes generous and type solid.
- NO 4-COLOUR PROCESS on this stock — no photographic imagery, fine screens or gradients. The surface eats them. Solid ink, foil, letterpress and blind deboss only.
- Uncoated and slightly rough — never described as coated, glossy, pearlescent or smooth.

- Is Gmund Bier Ale dyed through?
- Yes. The colour runs all the way through the sheet, so a cut, debossed, or die-cut edge shows the same deep red-brown, the colour of ale malt as the face — no white core.
- Can you letterpress on Gmund Bier Ale?
- We do not recommend letterpress on Gmund Bier Ale. For light type on this stock we use foil stamping instead, which is opaque and sits cleanly on the surface.
