    Red foil, ghosted type

Portrait rounded-corner card for Tattoos by Dio: a biohazard-style horned skull and angular DIO lettering in mirror red foil on soft-touch black, with ghosted bubbles and tagline, and a red reverse carrying the handle, website and phone in silver foil.

Business-cards for Tattoos by Dio with red and silver foil stamping, portrait, soft-touch black and rounded corners.

    The idea

Dio is a custom tattoo artist working in illustrative colour, black and grey, watercolour, trash polka, anime, video game, pop culture and neo-traditional styles. The ghosted words at the top of the card come from the artist's own tagline.

    Two rules

    1. 01Ghost the tagline. Set in near-black on black, visible only at an angle.
    2. 02Swap the metals. Red foil on the black front, and silver foil on the red reverse.

    Why it works

It looks like a flash sheet from across the room, and up close the tagline shows through. The red foil gives the card the same punch as Dio's colour work.

    Start from these materials

Same paper, foil and finish, locked in — nothing of Tattoos by Dio's artwork comes with it.

    Questions

Does red foil work on black?
Yes, mirror red is one of the most striking foils on soft-touch black.
Can foil go on a printed red background?
Yes. Silver or gold foil holds strong contrast on saturated red.
    What is soft-touch?
A velvety matte laminate that deepens black and makes foil pop.
