How it behaves in production
- SOFT TOUCH IS A PLASTIC MATTE LAMINATE — visually a smooth uniform low-sheen matte surface, same visual family as silk matte. NO fabric, NO velvet, NO suede, NO felt, NO fuzzy nap, NO visible tooth, NO visible fibers, NO cloth weave. Reads on screen like a clean matte plastic laminate.
- The 'soft touch' quality is TACTILE ONLY (soft/rubbery/velvety to the FINGER). It MUST NOT be depicted as any visible surface texture in a photograph.
- NEGATIVE PROMPT (always fire when soft touch is the stock): not velvet, not suede, not fabric, not felt, not fuzzy, no visible nap, no cloth weave, no fiber tooth.
- Spot UV against soft-touch is the money combo; it clicks under a raking light — gloss vs even matte, not gloss vs fabric.
- Foil + spot UV on soft-touch is a hero recipe — call for it directly.
Common questions
- Is Soft-touch laminated 16pt dyed through?
- No. Soft-touch laminated 16pt is not a dyed-through sheet, so a cut edge will not match the printed face. If you need a coloured edge on this stock we add painted edging as a separate operation.
- Can you letterpress on Soft-touch laminated 16pt?
- We do not recommend letterpress on Soft-touch laminated 16pt. For light type on this stock we use foil stamping instead, which is opaque and sits cleanly on the surface.
