    How it behaves in production

    • GF Smith Colorplan Imperial Blue — smooth uncoated European stock, dyed through to the core.
    • Because it is dyed through, a cut edge, deboss, or die-cut aperture shows the SAME colour as the face — never a white core.
    • Surface is smooth and matte with a faint natural tooth. Never render it coated, glossy, or laminated.
    • Foil sits like jewellery on this shade — keep coverage restrained.
    • Letterpress ink is semi-translucent: on this shade it reads tone-on-tone and darker. Only recommend when that darkening is the intent.

    Common questions

Is Colorplan Imperial Blue dyed through?
Yes. The colour runs all the way through the sheet, so a cut, debossed, or die-cut edge shows the same imperial blue as the face — no white core.
Can you letterpress on Colorplan Imperial Blue?
We do not recommend letterpress on Colorplan Imperial Blue. For light type on this stock we use foil stamping instead, which is opaque and sits cleanly on the surface.
What weights do you stock Colorplan Imperial Blue in?
350 gsm. Heavier weights can usually be duplexed to order — ask and we will confirm before quoting.
Can I see it before I order?
Yes, and you should. Screens flatten texture and shift colour. We send physical samples of any stock in this directory before you commit.
