How it behaves in production
- The thin cotton tier — mailers, inserts, RSVP cards, budget-conscious runs.
- Single ply, ~0.38 mm: the cut edge is a true hairline. Never render it as a slab.
- Same felt tooth and shade family as 32pt/48pt cotton — only the caliper differs.
- Letterpress bites beautifully but keep impression shallow; the sheet is thin.
Common questions
- Is 16pt dyed through?
- No. 16pt is not a dyed-through sheet, so a cut edge will not match the printed face. If you need a coloured edge on this stock we add painted edging as a separate operation.
- Can you letterpress on 16pt?
- Yes — it is one of the techniques we run on this stock. Letterpress ink is semi-translucent, so on darker shades it reads tone-on-tone; on light shades it prints as expected.
- What weights do you stock 16pt in?
- 16pt (~400gsm). Heavier weights can usually be duplexed to order — ask and we will confirm before quoting.
- Can I see it before I order?
- Yes, and you should. Screens flatten texture and shift colour. We send physical samples of any stock in this directory before you commit.
